There are so many interesting places within 20-30 minutes from the cabin that may not be on your radar. Ditch the touristy shops and head out of town for some of the coolest places around. https://www.markofthepotter.com/ is a cool pottery shop that overlooks the Soque river. It’s located in Clarkesville, a quaint community that’s close to the cabins. It’s worth the drive just to shop for a unique piece of pottery, but the river view from the banks or the view from the balcony of the store are pretty amazing. My favorite thing is the waterfall that can be found in the basement. Make sure to check it out and bring home a mug, some magnets, or a crock to remind you of the wonderful memories you made.
https://no1alike.com/ is another store in Clarkesville with unique items that you won’t find anywhere else. The owner, Kim, Padula creates beautiful custom pieces through her “marbling” technique. You can find beautiful, one-of-a-kind pieces for the home or personal accessories. I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to watch Kim work and create new designs.
https://sauteestore.com/ is another place full of character and just outside of town. Walk back in time when you enter the store. There’s an array of local products for sale. Pick up some jelly from Unicoi Preserves and order a sandwich from the market. The panini of the day is a great choice and it’s such a pleasant atmosphere to sit outside and enjoy your sandwich.
